FORM: 026 was a school project where we were given the most affordable stereo speaker products available online which were engineered for manufacturing efficiency to use their electronic internals to design a fully functional speaker with a specific design intent.
For my speaker, I chose to focus on how a very basic cubic form could be given the right amount refined details to create a desirable, high-end product. Specifically, I wanted to explore how formal refinement, a design language of precision, and a bit of mystery could create perceived value using form only, without relying on metallic materials which have the weight and appearance we normally associate with high quality.
